WELCOME TO MY ART EDUCATION TEACHING PORTFOLIO
I am Allison Watkins, a May 2013 Art Education graduate from Seton Hill University with a K-12 teaching certification. During my time at Seton Hill, I expanded my knowledge of art via my study of Drawing, Design, Painting, Advanced 2D Media, Ceramics, Printmaking, and Sculpture. In addition, I have studied both Western and Non-Western Art History as well as Philosophy of Art. Discovery via the study and creation of art has provided me with valuable insight as to how I personally relate to the greater world around me. It is my goal to help students to realize such discoveries themselves as they become critical thinkers capable of creating change within our world.
INTRODUCTION TO PORTFOLIO
My Art Education Teaching Portfolio is organized into sections for my Philosophy of Art Education, my resume, my own artwork, as well as examples of student artwork. Artifacts within my portfolio are presented to meet the ten InTASC Standards that focus upon areas of the learner and learning, content knowledge, instructional practice, and professional responsibility. Such artifacts include lesson plans, photographs, academic papers, professional presentations, student exit slips, art exhibits, etc. To find out more about the InTASC Standards and view my artifacts, click on the link at the top of the page. From this section you may view each of of the ten standards independently of one another. It is my hope that the artifacts found within my portfolio not only exhibit my thorough approach to teaching but also my passion as an artist as well as an educator.
